Home remedies to treat gallstones

What is gallbladder and gallstones?

The small punch which stores bile secreted by the liver and helps in digestion of fatty acids is known as gallbladder. It is located in the liver. The presence of cholesterol in large amount in the bile can lead to formation of gallstones. Gallstones can be tiny or large in size. The pain caused by gallstones are not regular but it starts when gallstones enter and blocks the tube connecting the liver with the small intestine. The pain initiates from right side of the abdomen and radiates to the shoulders and then to your back.

The various symptoms of this condition can be a feeling of chilled, vomiting and even jaundice at times.  Old age, multiple pregnancies, obesity, lack of exercising, anemia and intake of high fat diet are few factors that contribute to the formation of gallstones.   • Raw beet-root juice: Beetroot juice magically helps in treating gallstones. It wonderfully cleanses your liver and is well-known for dissolving gallstones. For liver cleansing, avoid consuming too much food items and drink beet-root juice twice in a week.
  • Black seed oil:  Various studies have proved that intake of black seeds and black seed oil helps in preventing as well as eliminating gallstones.  Mix 250g of grounded black seeds with honey and 1 tsp of pure black seed oil. Add ½ cup of water to it whenever you take it on an empty stomach to get relief from the condition.
  • Turmeric: Turmeric is rich in curcumin compound plus has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.  It helps in preventing formation of new gallstones and in eradicating existing gallstones by making bile and other substances it contains soluble. It has been proved by the researchers that intake of ½ tsp of turmeric mixed with honey on a daily basis helps in dissolving gallstones in an effective way.
